You call this ‘AN EXCUSE’ ?

Making excuses

A lot of my lesson plans feed off a current situation in my life. Having three teenage daughters create so many opportunities for personal learning experience (and more often than not, reexamination of misguided plans of action). With the title being “making excuses” you can probably already see where I’m going with this…

It’s the end of the school year and we get plenty of experience as parents to face, head on, the dilemma of  “excuse or explanation”?.

My lesson this week is not the least bit educational. The theory being: if you’re going to come up with an excuse, at least let me teach you how to do it properly. We’ll learn the rules to making a good excuse, how to sift the excuse from the information and explanation and the difference between:

    • A Good excuse
    • A Reasonable excuse
    • A Valid excuse
    • A Legitimate excuse

And finely, how to create an excuse for someone else.
